Q.

Hello Doctor, I would like to ask about my newborn baby’s umbilical cord. The cord fell off 2 days ago, but today I noticed a very small amount of blood (just one drop) from the umbilical area. There is no continuous bleeding. Could you please let me know if this is normal after the cord falls off, or if my baby needs to be examined? Also, please advise what care I should take for the umbilical area. Thank you, Doctor

A. Because of the crusts that are left behind, it is normal for them to get dislodged occasionally and a little bit of bleeding is possible. But if it is bleeding a lot and then you have to consult a doctor
