Q.
hello doctor... I happened to give 5ml of iron syrup once (tonoferon with 25 mg in 1ml) to my 11 month baby weighing 10 kg for 3 days.... this happened by mistake as the prescribed dose was 1ml twice a day... she had blackish stools for those three days... since last two days I have stopped giving the supplement... today she pooped sticky loose stool... I read about iron poisoning in children... I m tensed now doctor... please help...

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 8 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. no related. will improve kindly give easily digestible food for few days like rice dal khichdi curd buttermilk apple banana poha upma and do not give milk to the child. also it is advisable not to give any milk products like outside milk cerelac milk powder cow milk animal milk. you cannot give chocolate and icecream. you cannot give outside food as well as preservative food. avoid giving raw food and also sugary food avoid tea coffee. if required your doctor will add antacids as well as anti colic medicines for your child
