Q.

Hello doc! My baby is almost 5 months old. He sometimes shivers for 10 seconds suddenly when in sleep. Sometimes when falling sleep, mostly when I raise him up in sleep. From 3 months of age I observed it and encountered 5-6 episodes of same. I get worried.

A. shivering in newborn can be due to startle reflex and less likely due to calcium deficiency. kindly continue to give breastfeeding to the child and take az video of the shivering and meet your doctor who will tell you whether it is normal startle reflex or it is due to hypocalcemia. z
