Q.

hello Doc mom of 3months old baby my baby was detected with intestinal obstruction on the 2nd day of birth then on 3rd day ileostomy was performed n then after 51 days closure was performed as my baby was not gaining weight and ileostomy output was excessive n watery n my baby had weight loss. his birth weight was 3.1 he was on breast feed. after surgery i. e from 3rd he passed meconium after rectal washes. but after 1week my baby developed distension n X-ray was done showing dilated bowel loops.. then CT abdomen wid contrast was done n den again a surgery was performed i. e exploratory laparotomy n adhesiolysis was ileo-ileal anastomotic site resection wid ileostomy n rectal + sigmoid biopsy were done( which showed adhesion n some pus flakes were seen) den after starting his feeds again he was not tolerating breastfeed so we started low lac Formula feed now he is 3months n weight is 4.3 kg so Wat else can I do to increase his weight before colostomy which is planned to be done after 2 3 months??? thank you very much n sorry for such a big question

A. I think you should not give him anything else other than formula milk till six months... also weight is OK sitting his health conditions... so don't be in hurry to feed him before six months.. as it may disturb his digestion more....start semi solids. post six months. and feed on home cooked meals... at that time...avoid cerelac etc
