if the consistency is hard and the child is having pain while passing stool it is considered as constipation.
give plenty of water and fibre diet to the child
it is important to give fibre diet from cereals pulses vegetables and fruits
avoid givinsg more than 400 ml milk everyday and avoid giving packet and processed foods as well as biscuits and refined food
adding papaya , fennel seeds water , oats pear prunes pineapple banana kishmish to the regular diet will help in decreasing constipation.

If your baby is not eating baby food yet, you may give 1 to 2 ounces of 100% fruit juice (pear, prune, cherry, or apple) once a day. Stop the juice if their stools become too loose. If they are old enough to eat baby foods, feed them pureed pears, peaches, or prunes instead of giving them juice.
