Q.

He has having cough since two weeks. His medication has reduced the cough but his cough picks up at night. What should we do? He gets lots of phlegm during night time cough.

A. it appears to be allergic cough/cold. they can be associated with temperature variations around the body (hot to cold or cold to hot environmental changes) which the body cannot sustain leading to cough usually at evening /night and morning. requires examination and start anti allergic medicines. meet dr and prevent such ftemperature variations. there is a possibility of starting anti allergic medicines for at least one month and the doctor will decide if the child needs inhaler therapy or nebulization. when allergies are not controlled they can lead to intermittent respiratory infections which needs other medicine

A. Check with your doctor if you can nebulise your child before you put your child to sleep which is what is going to be beneficial as that is going to help you reducing down the congestion from the chest and throat of your child and will help in better sleeping and breathing and less
