POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy5 months agoA. An 18-month-old baby weighing 9.6 kg and showing disinterest in most foods, including curd, rice, dosa, and snacks, may be going through a common toddler food aversion phase. At this age, babies become more selective, may resist new or familiar foods, and often prefer milk or only a few favorites. This can slow down weight gain and affect nutrition if not handled patiently.
To help her eat better, offer small portions of a variety of colorful, soft, and mildly flavored foods, and avoid force-feeding. Try finger foods like boiled veggies, fruit slices, soft roti pieces with ghee, or stuffed parathas. Make food look fun, and let her eat on her own with minimal pressure. Reduce milk to 400–500 ml per day to increase appetite. If refusal continues or weight gain is very slow, consult a pediatrician to rule out iron deficiency, digestion issues, or oral discomfort.
