Q.

Gardenal syrup 2ml for 12 days is prescribed by my doctor for my 45 days old daughter after her bilirubin Total was 12.2. It was 13 when she was 14 days. Gardenal is used for seizures ? Is it harmful If given in case of jaundice. Please help I am worried. What else can I do to bring her jaundice down. Is it normal For bilirubin level to remain high this long

A. Is it necessary to get usg of her liver done ? Is it normal for jaundice to last this long? I m worried

A. Hello, your baby girl is 45 days old and if she is having a neonatal jaundice at 12/13 mg bilirubin level then gardenal syrup 2mg/kg twice a day can be given and you should either give her phototherapy or expose to mornings sunlight daily
