A. The amount of food a 8-month-old baby should consume can vary, as each child is unique and may have different appetites. However, here are some general guidelines for feeding an 8-month-old: 1. **Breast milk or Formula**: Continue to offer breast milk or formula as the primary source of nutrition. At this age, most babies still rely on breast milk or formula for a significant portion of their nutrition. 2. **Solid Foods**: Introduce a variety of solid foods alongside breast milk or formula. Start with small amounts and gradually increase as your baby's appetite grows. 3. **Portion Size**: Begin with a few spoonfuls of pureed or mashed foods, typically 1-2 tablespoons per meal. Increase the portion size as your baby shows interest and starts to eat more. 4. **Frequency**: Offer solids 2-3 times a day, gradually working up to 3 meals a day. Allow your baby to eat at their own pace and show you when they're full. 5. **Food Variety**: Include a variety of age-appropriate foods, such as cereals, vegetables, fruits, and proteins like pureed meats or legumes. 6. **Texture**: Progress from smooth purees to slightly lumpier textures as your baby gets used to solid foods. This helps in developing their chewing and swallowing skills. Always consult with your pediatrician for personalized guidance on your baby's specific dietary needs. They can offer advice on the introduction of new foods and monitor your baby's growth and development to ensure they are getting the right nutrition.
