POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy3 years agoA. You should give your baby only breast milk or iron-fortified formula during the first 12 months of life, not cow's milk. Starting at age 6 months, you may add solid foods to your baby's diet. You should wait until your baby has reached her first birthday, before giving cow's milk as a main drink. It is fine to use small amounts of cow's milk in cooking from six months onwards. Curd, paneer and mild cheese are also fine to feed your baby from six months.Babies who are exposed to cow's milk before their first birthday are more likely to be anemic, have diarrhea or vomiting, and/or experience an allergic reaction (the proteins in milk are more numerous than those in other milk products, such as the yogurt). Before your child is 12 months old, cow's milk may put him or her at risk for intestinal bleeding. It also has too many proteins and minerals for your baby's kidneys to handle and does not have the right amount of nutrients your baby needs.
