Q.

first I put 1st dose in govt hospital... then I preferred private... they put pentaxim...3rd dose they put hexaxim...since there s no stock in pentaxim...am worried...is it OK?

A. Pentaxim covers Diptheria, Whooping cough (by acellular component, which adds to cost but has less pain, fever for the infant), Tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae type b and IPV (injectable polio vaccine). Hexaxim(®) (DTaP-IPV-Hep B-Hib) contains diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis, inactivated poliovirus, recombinant hepatitis B virus surface antigen, and Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide (polyribosylribitol phosphate). So hexaxim is a 6 in 1 and pentaxim is a 5 in 1 injection. Hexaxim additionally contains a hep b vaccination that pentaxim doesn't have
