Q.

#AskTheExpert Hi Doctor, my paediatrician has suggested me to give tomato to my baby to help her relieve from constipation and tight stool. but what I have read online is that tomatoes can be harsh on baby's immature stomach due to its acidic nature. Seeking your advice. What should I do

A. Hello, your baby girl is 6 months old and if you are going to give her tomatoes then it’s acidic but if you give her tomato soup it will be easier even to baby’s tummy so your paediatrician is correct

A. there should not be any problem. if you are giving tomato and if you do not observe any digestive issues in 24 hours you can continue to do so. also if you have recently changed to formula milk than kindly change the brand because many times formula milk also may lead to constipation. give plenty of water and papaya especially to decrease constipation
