Q.

doctor has recommended ferrous ascorbate suspension (Feronia XT ) for my two years old child but after giving just one dose of 5ml which is recommended to be given twice a day of 5ml each my baby started to pass black wattery potty. I stopped the iron syrup and my baby was well. is there any alternative iron syrup that can be given to my baby?

A. Hello, your baby girl is 25 months old and if she doesn’t tolerate iron medicine like feronia xt then you should give her syrup Raricap 5 ml two times a day

A. kindly ask your pediatrician regarding this problem because different babies have different tendency for constipation after iron supplements. you can go for brands which do not cause constipation in children
