Instead, focus on home care: keep the baby hydrated with breast milk or formula, use a humidifier or steam in the room to ease breathing, and gently clear nasal congestion with a bulb syringe if needed. If the cough lasts more than a week, is severe, or is accompanied by fever, difficulty breathing, or poor feeding, consult your pediatrician promptly for proper diagnosis and treatment. Never give adult cough medicines without medical advice.
