Mostly  cough cold, are viral in origin 
They may subside by 3 -9 days 
No need of any medication if mild.  
If cough and cold then need steam inhalation, nasal decongestant drops (nasivion baby nasal drops 1drop in each nostril 3 times a day for 3 days). 
And cough syrp or drops as per babys 
Cough condition  (wet or dry). 
Keep ur baby well hydrated in cough cold  episode 
Proper hand washing, keeping away ur baby from other infected persons, exclusive breast feeding ur baby till 6months of the age. 
It will help.  
If decreased urine output, refusal to feed, decreased activity, breathing difficulty 
Then need consultation with nearest pediatrician.

Please don't use ayurvedic medicines for young kids. Most of the ayurvedic medicines contains purified but heavy metal traces. When not used in proper dose, may cause internal organ damage. Please spend a couple of minutes to search on Google and you will realize yourself, how unsafe it is. 
My cousin's 1yr old kid got an overdose and faced liver damage. Luckily, he got cured just with medication else it was as serious as liver transplant.

Common cold is a viral infection of nose and throat. Nasal Congestion and runny nose are the main indicators of a cold. Keep feeding your baby well, give indirect steam or use humidifier, put saline nasal drops. You can prevent it by keeping your baby away from the person who is suck, wash your hands before handling the baby, clean baby's toys and pacifier often
