A. It is generally not recommended to give cow's milk or any dairy milk to a 9-month-old baby as their primary drink. The main reasons are: Nutritional Imbalance: Cow’s milk doesn’t have the right balance of nutrients that babies need at this stage, particularly in terms of iron, vitamin E, and essential fatty acids. Protein and Mineral Load: Cow's milk contains higher levels of protein and minerals, which can put stress on your baby’s immature kidneys and may cause an imbalance in electrolytes or lead to dehydration. Risk of Allergies: Some babies can develop an allergy to the proteins in cow's milk, which can cause reactions like rashes, vomiting, or diarrhea. Iron Deficiency: Cow's milk can interfere with the absorption of iron and might increase the risk of iron deficiency anemia in babies. It’s best to continue breastfeeding or providing formula milk until your baby turns one year old. After that, you can introduce cow's milk gradually, but you should consult your pediatrician for specific guidance. For now, offer solid foods, fruits, and vegetables, along with breast milk or formula, to ensure your baby’s nutritional needs are being met.
