This is because honey can, very occasionally, contain a spore of a bacterium called clostridium botulinum. This can cause a rare form of food poisoning (botulism) in babies.

Lovleena MishraMom of 2 children4 years agoA. Please avoid giving honey to your baby before he or she turns one year old. If introduced to honey before one year, it can cause a rare form of food poisoning. It can cause muscle weakness and breathing issues in babies.
