 बच्चे को सीधी स्थिति में रखें और 15 से 20 मिनट तक डकार दिलवाएं (भले ही आपको डकार सुनाई दे या नहीं)। पेट में गैस बनने से हिचकी आती है।
एक बार डकार दिलाने के बाद बच्चे को वापस बिस्तर पर न रखें क्योंकि एक बार डकार दिलाने से सारी गैस बाहर नहीं निकल पाdती है और यदि गैस ठीक से नहीं निकलती है तो यह आंत में चली जाती है जिससे असामान्य फैलाव होता है और इससे बार-बार पेट का दर्द होता है।
बच्चे को सीधी स्थिति में रखें, चाहे आपको डकार की आवाज सुनाई दे या नहीं और यह भी महत्वपूर्ण नहीं है कि जब बच्चा मुंह से हवा निकालेगा तो आपको आवाज सुdनाई देगी।
