Q.

baby had fever last 2 days, went to pediatrician they given medicine, while continuing the medicine baby not taking feed properly, crying a lot frequently.. temperature not increased..what can we do?

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamgiiol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

A. Whatever liquid is comfortable for the child give that if the child is not having milk and you have started giving food to the child then try giving soup coconut water little bit of water on room temperature try to change the variety that you’re giving because lots of appetite is very common with fever and medication is also literally heavy so try to shift to another liquid
