#asktheexperts sir my girl is 11 months old she was given paarago paracetamol 1.25 ml when she was 9.5 months when she weighed around 8 kg that time. she is having fever since morning I gave her 1.5 ml 100 mg paracetamol at 10 am she is still having fever 101. can I repeat dosage before 6hours how much to give her now plz reply I'm waiting

Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .other medicine like mefenamic acid ibuprofen can also be given .
Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home yuremedy to decrease fever. 
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. 
Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
