Q.

#asktheexperts Sir/ Maam My almost 5 months old daughter has started sucking on her thumb. I have been monitoring it closely she does it when she has to sleep or hungry and if removed she cries hysterically. I am worried that this might not become habit. Doc kindly guide whether to discourage thumb sucking or not? And whether pacifiers can be introduced?

A. thumb sucking is normal at this age it is usually normal for this age,if not associated with any other problems repetitively, you should not worry it does not require any kind of treatment or medicine . if you have any more doubts, get clinical examination done once by the doctor available and get further guidance regarding this.
