#asktheexperts namaste my boy is 3 month old, can you please advice me how should I take care of him from cold n cough . n also my child nowdays sucking his figure alot can you kind tell me .....how should I made him stop putting hand in his mouth ?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy3 years agoA. finger, thumb, hand,things insertion in the oral cavity is very normal at this stage and usually it is due to teething pain the child is experiencing along with inflammation and pain in the gums.
just maintain hygiene of the child finger as well as any type of things which goes inside the oral cavity and also try to maintain the hygiene of your finger when you are touching the hands of the child.
to decrease the teething pain you can press the gums of the child and if the child is very irritable and crying for pain you can give paracetamol also.
it is a self limiting habit and no treatment is required.
This can occurs due to weather changes and temperature variations or simple cold and rarely infection.
kindly give nasal saline drops (nasoclear /nasivion s)every three hourly and since it is a salt water/saline water it does not have any side effects and can be given again and again for nasal blockage and respiratory cough.
It will dissolve mucus in nose and throat.
For fever and pain give paracetamol.
Anti-cold medicines at this age have got side effects so can be given only after medical consultation.
Try to prevent temperatfure variations around the child and you can also give indirect steam inhalation and if there is no improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor
