A. Hi, Once your baby is 6 months old you may start giving semi-solids to the baby like fruit Puree, vegetable Puree, vegetable and dal soups, cerelac, rice porridge etc.Start with a few spoons and gradually increase the amount everyday. Intially replace one feed with solids, then slowly after some days replace other feeds with solids. After 1-2 month baby can have 3 meals a day. Give a few spoon of water after every meal If brestfeed is not sufficient for the baby. you can start giving formula milk to the baby. Formula milk is the alternative of brestfeed. There are many good brands like nan, lactogen, similac etc. Consult your pediatrician to know which formula milk suits your baby and fulfills the requirements.
