Q.

#asktheexperts my son is 2 month 6 days old ..he doesn't have a good sleep... in the entire 24 hours he sleep overall 7-8 hours and all you can say are naps... the time rotates there is no fixed time when he sleeps but when he does he sleeps in one span (i mean if he sleeps at 4 pm then he will sleep for 2-3 hours ,will wake at 7 or 7.30 pm again will take feed which is again not normal..he wakes up take feed for 2-3 min again he sleeps for another 2-3 hours and will wake at 10 pm to 11 pm and then when he wakes up he doesn't sleep the rest of the day , so from 11 pm he will not sleep till next day afternoon 4-5 pm.. in the whole 14-15 hours hardly he sleeps for another 2 hours within a span of 15-15 min so overall sleeps 8 hours a day.

A. For a 2-month-old, sleeping 7 to 8 hours in a 24-hour period is below the typical range. At this age, babies generally need about 14 to 17 hours of sleep per day, including naps. Here are some tips to help improve your baby's sleep: 1. **Establish a Routine:** Create a consistent sleep routine to help signal that it's time for sleep. 2. **Safe Sleep Environment:** Ensure a comfortable and safe sleep environment. Keep the room dark, quiet, and at a comfortable temperature. 3. **Day and Night Differentiation:** Help your baby distinguish between day and night by keeping daytime activities stimulating and nighttime calm and quiet. 4. **Frequent Naps:** Allow for regular naps throughout the day. Babies at this age typically need several short naps. 5. **Feeding and Comfort:** Ensure your baby is well-fed and comfortable before sleep. If your baby continues to have trouble sleeping or if you have concerns about their sleep patterns, consulting a pediatrician can provide additional insights and guidance.
