Q.
#asktheexperts My one year old baby have increased temperature on head part only.she has 99.5 body temperaturewhat should we do.which syrup can I use.currently iam using dolo120 from yesterday.after giving syrup it reduces temperature but after three hours she get that high temperature on head part.our paediatrician is on leave for two days.plz suggest me what can I do.or which syrup should i use

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .other medicine like mefenamic acid ibuprofen can also be given .
Lukewarm spongue bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever.
Adtequate fluid intake is also beneficial.
Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
