POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. After an episode of loose motions, it is common for a 2-year-old child’s digestive system to become temporarily sensitive, leading to difficulty in digesting regular food or milk. This condition is often due to a mild imbalance in gut bacteria or a weakened digestive lining. It’s important to give her a light, easily digestible diet for a few days. Offer soft foods like khichdi, curd rice, mashed banana, apple puree, suji (semolina) porridge, and moong dal soup. Avoid heavy, oily, or spicy foods. Milk can sometimes be hard to digest right after diarrhea, so give it in small amounts or replace it temporarily with curd (probiotic) or buttermilk, which helps restore good gut bacteria. You can also give ORS (oral rehydration solution) once or twice a day to keep her hydrated. Avoid packaged juices, sweets, and chocolates. If digestion issues continue, your pediatrician may recommend zinc syrup or a probiotic supplement like Enterogermina or Sporolac to support gut recovery. However, avoid giving any medicines without the doctor’s advice. If symptoms persist beyond a few days or she becomes very fussy or weak, consult your pediatrician again.
