Mom of a 3 yr old girl2 years ago
Q.

#asktheexperts My daughter aged 15 weeks, wieghs 3.1 kg (Birth wieght was 1.35 kg as she was born prematurely @ 32 weeks). Now my question is, whether this wieght gain rate is normal or there any improvement is needed. Some doctors says it is ok as she is premature baby but some says she is underweight. Hence we are in confusion. So kindly suggest us regarding this and recommend any supplementary milk formula needed for more and healthy wieght for 4 months old baby. Thank you

A. Baby should gain around 150 - 200 grams of weight every week in the starting months. Baby should double their birth weight by the age of 6 months and triple their birth weight by the sge of 1 year. If brestfeed is not sufficient for the baby. you can start giving formula milk to the baby. Formula milk is the alternative of brestfeed. There are many good brands like nan, lactogen, similac etc. Consult your pediatrician to know which formula milk suits your baby and fulfills the requirements. Take care
