Give your child plenty of fluids, such as water, electrolyte solutions, apple juice, and warm soup. ...Make sure your child gets plenty of rest.To ease nasal congestion, try saline nasal sprays. ...Keep your child away from tobacco smoke. ...Use children's-strength medicine for symptoms.Vomiting can sometimes be a sign of an infection other than gastroenteritis, such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), middle ear infections, pneumonia or meningitis. Contact your child's GP if they're vomiting and experiencing additional symptoms of an infection, such as a high temperature (fever) and irritability.Rinse your child's nose and mouth out to clear the vomit. If your child is an asthmatic, give them their rescue inhaler. If they are over 12 months old, give them a spoonful of honey to calm the cough.Stay hydrated. Water, juice, clear broth or warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. ... Rest. ... Soothe a sore throat. ... Combat stuffiness. ... Relieve pain. ... Sip warm liquids. ... Add moisture to the air. ... Try over-the-counter (OTC) cold and cough medications.
