#asktheexperts My 8 months old baby boy is suffering from chest congestion, cough, cold and fever from few days. He often fall sick like this from 6 months of age. Doctor has prescribed him cough syrup and antibiotics. My question is , is it really necessary to give antibiotics to cure his illnesses? And also tell, how to improve his immunity system so that he doesn't fall sick often.

A. Antibiotics are given in extreme cases when there is an infection or something to a small child for normal things antibiotics are not even advisable to be given to the child so you have to understand whether your child is genuinely having some infection or issue that antibiotics are suggested otherwise it’s not good to be given
