A. Yes, it is generally okay if your 5-month-old baby prefers to sleep in a lateral (side) position, especially if they turn to that position on their own. By this age, many babies develop enough neck and body strength to change positions during sleep. However, always place your baby on their back to sleep initially, as it is the safest position to reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Ensure the sleeping surface is firm and free of pillows, loose blankets, or toys to keep your baby safe.
