Q.

#asktheexperts hi myself Somali. my son is now 2year old . his name is Aditya. From last 8-10 months, he is having hard stool. The stool are always round in shape and small in size.Though baby is not having any issue while passing stool,we have consulted with our paediatrician and he suggested for 'Piclin Kid Syrup'. But the problem is, whenever we are using Piclin, the stool becomes soft. Once we stop medicine, it becomes hard again. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem of my baby.

A. As a mother of 2 year old, I would suggest you whatever solutions i ise.. whenever I feel my son is constipated I prefer to increase his fluid and fibre intake such as coats, cucumber and more fruits and salad.. Also, i soak raisins at night and give that water to my son in the morning that also helps in constipation

A. the problem of constipation is only control with the help of medicine but will get cured only with increasing age of the child and till the time you are able to increase the fibre diet for the child

A. hi instead of medicine , you can try some homemade remedies like: give fiber rich food like spinach soup, tomatoes soup, sesame seeds, fruits like pear papaya plum banana etc to your child which help to make stool soft and easy to pass. keep your child well hydrated encourage your child to do more physical activities. you can give Massage to your child everyday which can help in this. for example give Massage on stomach in clockwise direction with firm hands. move your child legs in cycling motions.
