Father of a 1 m old girl3 weeks ago
Q.

#asktheexperts Hi doctor, my baby's TSH was around 38 and T4 around 8.6 when tested with cord blood. we tested 15 days and 30 days now it has come down to 6.23 (TSH) and free T4 around 2.52. Our doc said to take the test again after 2 weeks and if not within the range, he told to start medications. Is this something to worry? what is the implication of this

A. I’ll tell you very honestly what I have seen over the years and with the experience also when you get the testing done initially thyroid will always come positive with kids but usually if you take the test after six months again without giving any medicines usually it comes down to normal level so do not give medicines don’t be in a haste I would suggest you to wait till the age of six months at least
