POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month2 months agoA. It's common for 2-month-old babies to have frequent bowel movements, sometimes passing small amounts like drops with grunting, straining, or crying. This is often due to an immature digestive system and a condition called infant dyschezia, where babies have trouble coordinating the muscles needed to pass stool—even if the stool is soft.
As long as:
The stool is soft (not hard pellets), Your baby is gaining weight, feeding well, and otherwise active,
then this is usually normal and will improve with time, often by 3–4 months of age as the digestive system matures.
You can help by:
Gently moving your baby's legs in a bicycle motion, Giving tummy time to relieve gas, Burping well after feeds.
If the baby’s stool becomes hard, has blood, or the baby seems in a lot of pain, consult your pediatrician to rule out constipation or other concerns.
