On demand doesn’t mean that you have to wait for the baby to cry for feed. There are early hunger cues that babies exhibit when they start to feel hungry, like sticking their tongue out, moving their head side to side, sucking their hand etc. (search on YouTube) you can keep a watch for those and feed accordingly.
