#AskTheExpert when hiccups starts it takes long time to stop. my baby girl is one month old. is it normal?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. hiccups in children occur due to gas which is present in the stomach.
during the feeding process child takes air along with milk and that air goes inside thes stomach which irritates leading to hiccups.
you have to offer feeding as well as do proper burping(for atleast 20 minutes) to decrease this problem and it is a self limiting problem
during zhiccups just give breastfeeding again and keep the child in upright position for burping which will stop the episode

as it is taking long time,it is better to visit your pediatrician for once
he or she can give right guidance after examining your child.
please don't overfeed your child
burp your baby well after each feeding
