A. It's common for babies to develop a mild fever after vaccinations as part of their body's immune response. Paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) can help reduce the fever and alleviate any discomfort. However, it's important to use the correct dosage based on your child's age and weight. For a 1 year and 5 months old baby, the general dosage of paracetamol is: Dose: 15 mg per kg of body weight per dose. You can calculate the appropriate amount based on your child's weight (8.5 kg in your case). Here’s how you can calculate: Weight: 8.5 kg Dosage: 15 mg × 8.5 kg = 127.5 mg per dose. For infants, paracetamol is usually available in liquid form (syrup). You will find the concentration on the label (usually 125 mg/5 ml). For your baby, the dose would be: 127.5 mg = 5 ml of syrup (if the concentration is 125 mg per 5 ml). Important Notes: Check the medicine's label: Ensure the paracetamol you are using is appropriate for her age and weight. Administer the dose every 4 to 6 hours: You can give the paracetamol every 4 to 6 hours, but do not exceed 4 doses in a 24-hour period. Monitor her condition: If the fever persists for more than 48 hours or the fever is very high (above 101°F or 38.3°C), or if she shows other signs of discomfort (persistent crying, vomiting, etc.), consult your pediatrician. Hydration: Keep her hydrated with fluids like water or breast milk. Please consult your pediatrician before administering any medication to ensure the correct dosage and to rule out any other concerns.

A. To support healthy weight gain in your 1 year and 5-month-old baby, you should focus on providing nutrient-dense, calorie-rich foods that are also healthy and suitable for her age. Here are some suggestions: 1. Healthy Fats: Full-fat dairy: Cheese, whole milk, yogurt (if not allergic to dairy). Nut butters: Peanut butter, almond butter (spread on bread, fruits, or mixed into oatmeal). Avocados: Rich in healthy fats, mashed avocados can be mixed into other foods. 2. Protein-Rich Foods: Eggs: Scrambled eggs, omelets, or boiled eggs are great sources of protein. Chicken, fish, or meat: Soft, well-cooked pieces can be added to her meals. Tofu: A plant-based protein, easy to blend into smoothies or soups. Lentils and beans: Pureed or mashed, they can be added to soups or as a side dish. 3. Carbohydrates: Whole grains: Oatmeal, whole-wheat bread, brown rice, and pasta. These provide long-lasting energy and can be combined with healthy fats. Potatoes: Sweet potatoes or regular potatoes are excellent sources of carbohydrates. 4. Fruits and Vegetables: Bananas: Great for weight gain, high in calories and potassium. Mangoes, pears, and avocados: These are nutrient-rich and calorie-dense. Cooked vegetables: Carrots, peas, spinach, and sweet potatoes—pureed or mashed. 5. Smoothies or Milkshakes: You can make calorie-dense smoothies with whole milk, yogurt, fruits like banana or avocado, and nut butters. 6. Frequent, Small Meals: Offer smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day. This encourages eating without overwhelming the child. 7. Avoid Empty-Calorie Snacks: Limit processed snacks like chips or sugary items that provide empty calories without essential nutrients. Hydration: Ensure the baby drinks enough water and breast milk/formula if applicable. Avoid excessive sugary drinks. If your baby is still not gaining weight despite a nutrient-rich diet, it’s essential to consult your pediatrician for further evaluation.
