completion of 6 months age is right time to introduce semisolid food to a child.
but as it is start for your child,it is better to offer food like mung dal Pani, rice starch which is easy to digest.
then gradually you can start to offer different vegetables fruit and rice.
for teething:
it is natural process
so no need of extra medicines.
just give massage with clean finger on sore gums of your child.
provide silicone teether
provide apt sun light at least 20 minutes a day
maintain good hygiene
