At this stage, babies are becoming more adept at chewing and can enjoy a variety of textures and flavors. Sample Feeding Schedule for a 9-Month-Old: Morning (7:00-8:00 AM): Breast milk/formula: 150–200 ml Solid food: Soft cooked oatmeal, porridge, or mashed fruits like banana, apple, or pear. You can also offer small pieces of soft scrambled egg or toast. Mid-Morning (10:00-10:30 AM): Snack: Soft fruit pieces like banana, apple slices, or small chunks of avocado. You can also offer crackers or small pieces of whole wheat bread. Lunch (12:30-1:00 PM): Breast milk/formula: 150–200 ml Solid food: A well-cooked vegetable puree (carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato) with some lentil or rice mixed in. Alternatively, you can offer soft finger foods like small pieces of soft vegetables or fruit, or a mashed lentil ball. Afternoon Snack (3:30-4:00 PM): Small pieces of soft cheese, yogurt, or fruit like papaya or melon. A small portion of whole-grain crackers or unsweetened cereal. Dinner (6:00-7:00 PM): Breast milk/formula: 150–200 ml Solid food: Soft vegetables with rice, a portion of well-cooked chicken, or mashed potatoes. Offer soft, small finger foods like rice cakes, steamed veggies, or pasta. Before Bed (8:00-9:00 PM): Breast milk/formula: 150–200 ml (if your baby still has a night feeding). Things to Keep in Mind: Textures: At 9 months, your baby is ready for mashed, chopped, or soft finger foods. Avoid hard or choking hazards like whole nuts, grapes, or raw vegetables. Hydration: In addition to breast milk/formula, offer small sips of water in a sippy cup with meals. Variety: Introduce a variety of vegetables, fruits, grains, and proteins (such as chicken, lentils, and tofu) to ensure a balanced diet. Avoid added sugar and salt: Stick to natural flavors and avoid processed foods or anything that contains added sugar or salt.
