#asktheexpert What cud b the reason for increased body temperature (not fever)

A. Fever is the reaction of the body towards any kind of infection or any inflammatory process in body and only when the temperature is above 99F it is considered as fever, so you can give paracetamol in a dose of 15 mg per kg body weight/dose as the first line treatment this dose can be again repeated after every 5 to 6 hours if again required and you can also do cold sponging of the body to reduce fever in between the doses ,but if it continues even thereafter you should consult your doctor for proper treatment. if the temperature is not controlled by paracetamol alone meftal p can be given in between as a single dose but only under medical guidance.these medicines will also work to relieve any pain or body ache to a good extent. but in case of infection in which the fever is associated with other problems also it is recommended to get the clinjtical assessment done and get a proper treatment donle by a doctor.

A. Its Very normal with kids at this age because see the body temperature is generally higher than an adult body which is why you may be feeling that the body temperature is high but it is not fever but in general also their body temperature can be warmer than us
