A. Foods like potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, dal, ghee, ragi, almonds, yogurt, eggs and milk help the baby to gain weight. Please take a pediatricians' suggestion before you start any of these foods.Offer full-fat dairy products: Add grated cheese to soups or sprinkle it over rice and pasta to add the calories you're looking for. Look for full-fat yogurts but skip the ones laden with sugar. Choose your fruits: Offer your baby bananas, pears, and avocados instead of apples and oranges.Your 18-month-old will not gain much weight over the next six months, and his or her appetite may decrease. Your child will enjoy "grazing" — eating small amounts of food frequently — and will probably prefer carbohydrates like bread, bagels, crackers, pasta and cereal.Children are more sensitive to it compared to the adults. Therefore, the fish which contains mercury is prohibited to the babies, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. You can introduce fish to your baby once she is around 9 months old.For most babies, fish is fine to introduce at around 6 months (and potentially earlier for babies who start solids at 4 months). It is recommended that fish be introduced between 6 months and one year—even if your family has a history of food allergies.
