A. Thanks for sharing. Regular sneezing and coughing in a child could be due to several common causes, and it’s important to observe patterns to find the root.
Possible Reasons: 1. Allergies (very common) Dust, pet hair, pollen, mold, or strong smells Sneezing more in the morning or after playing on the floor? Look for itchy nose, watery eyes, or rubbing nose frequently ("allergic salute") 2. Cold or Viral Infections Frequent colds in young children are common, especially if they go to daycare/school Cough usually mild and goes away in a few days 3. Change in Weather / Temperature Sudden shift in room temperature (AC to warm, or fan to outdoor heat) can trigger sneezing/cough 4. Dust or Pollution Smoke, incense sticks, strong perfumes, mosquito coils can trigger irritation 5. Post-nasal drip Mucus dripping from nose to throat, especially at night, causes cough while lying down What You Can Do at Home: Keep the environment dust-free: Clean fans, change pillow covers frequently Avoid soft toys, heavy curtains, or carpets if allergy is suspected Use saline nasal drops to clear blocked nose Offer warm fluids like soup, warm water with honey (if child is 1+ year old) Run a humidifier in the room if air is dry When to See a Doctor: Cough/sneezing lasting more than 2 weeks Coughing at night regularly Breathing difficulty, wheezing, or fever Repeated nose rubbing, snoring, or blocked nose — may need allergy check
