Newborn Acne: Small red or white bumps on the face, usually appearing within the first few weeks of life. It’s caused by hormones passed from the mother and typically clears up on its own.
Erythema Toxicum: A common rash seen in newborns, characterized by red spots with yellowish centers. It usually appears within the first 2 to 3 days after birth and goes away within a few days.
Dry Skin: Newborns can have flaky, dry skin, especially on their hands, feet, and face. This is due to being in the womb where their skin was immersed in fluid and it usually resolves with gentle moisturizing.
Diaper Rash: Redness and irritation in the diaper area caused by wetness, friction, or sensitivity to diaper material. Keeping the area clean and dry can help.
Heat Rash: If your baby is too warm or overdressed, sweat can cause blocked sweat glands, leading to small red bumps.
Allergic Reactions: Sometimes a rash may occur if your baby is sensitive to certain fabrics, detergents, or even formula or food. If you suspect an allergy, it's best to consult with a pediatrician.
If the rash persists, seems to cause discomfort, or is accompanied by other symptoms like fever or blisters, it's best to consult your pediatrician for advice and treatment.
