#AskTheExpert sir... My daughter Ishika is 7 months old ... The doctor said that the hole in her heart was not closed when shown in the echo result.. doctor told me to take another echo after 2 months .. Is there any reason not to close this hole? .. Is there any problem with this hole..

A. The foramen ovale (fuh-RAY-men oh-VAL-ee) is a normal opening between the upper two chambers (the right atrium and left atrium) of an unborn baby's heart. The foramen ovale usually closes 6 months to a year after the baby's birth.
