A. For a 4-month-old baby with watery motions since yesterday, here’s what you can do: 1. Keep Baby Hydrated ✅ Continue Breastfeeding or Formula – The best way to prevent dehydration. Feed frequently. ✅ ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) – If the baby is passing stools very frequently (more than 6-7 times), consult a pediatrician for ORS guidance. ✅ Zinc Supplement – Some doctors recommend zinc drops (like Zinconia) to help recover from diarrhea faster. 2. Observe for Dehydration Signs ⚠️ Less urine output (dry diapers for 6+ hours) ⚠️ Dry mouth, sunken eyes, extreme drowsiness ⚠️ Sunken soft spot on the head (fontanelle) 3. Possible Causes & When to See a Doctor Teething (if drooling a lot) – Can cause mild diarrhea. Viral or Bacterial Infection – If fever, vomiting, or blood in stool appears, consult a doctor immediately. Lactose Intolerance – Sometimes post-infection, babies struggle to digest milk. A doctor may suggest lactose-free formula if needed. When to Visit a Pediatrician? 🚨 Frequent watery stools (more than 8-10 times/day) 🚨 Blood or mucus in stool 🚨 High fever (100.4°F or above) 🚨 Severe dehydration signs For now, keep the baby hydrated, monitor for any worsening symptoms, and if diarrhea continues for more than 2 days, consult a pediatrician.
