A. For a 2-year-8-month-old child who is not eating well and appears weak, focus on offering nutrient-rich, calorie-dense foods in small, frequent meals to support healthy weight gain and energy levels. Here are some helpful suggestions: Full-fat dairy: Offer whole milk, homemade curd, paneer, and cheese. You can also make milkshakes or smoothies using fruits like banana, chikoo, or mango. Healthy fats: Add ghee, butter, or coconut oil to meals. Nut powders (like almond or peanut powder) can be mixed into porridge or milk. Protein sources: Include soft-cooked dals, eggs (if not allergic), tofu, chicken, and mashed pulses. Moong dal khichdi with ghee is a good choice. Fruits and vegetables: Offer mashed avocado, bananas, sweet potatoes, and boiled carrots. Blend veggies into soups or mix with rice or parathas. Snacks: Homemade laddoos with jaggery, dry fruits, and atta or ragi can be given as tasty snacks. Finger foods: Give small, attractive portions like cheese cubes, soft boiled eggs, mini parathas, or idlis to encourage self-feeding. Keep mealtimes relaxed, avoid distractions, and don’t force-feed. If appetite and weight remain low despite efforts, consult a pediatrician to rule out any deficiencies or underlying issues.
