Q.

#AskTheExpert My wife is 12 weeks pregnant, its our second baby. 12th week ultrasound scan showed the cervix length as 3cm. Is it a problem? will it cause preterm? will it reduce as the pregnancy progresses? please suggest

A. A length of more than 2.5 cm is enough to wait for vaginal term delivery and it won’t cause any preterm birth. Anyhow she has to get regular scans done and you can see the progress of the cervical length alsoWrite Your Answer Here

A. Hello ma’am No no no just relax nothing like this see preterm can be at any point of time there is no specific reason to have a preterm baby sometimes you’re perfectly healthy and your child is ready to come out so you have a premature baby so this is not necessarily the reason for the same but still for all your doubts I’m just going to advise you to discuss it with your gynaecologist in detail for a better understanding
