#AskTheExpert My two years old son is having white spots on his cheeks... What does they indicate and what medication I should do?

A. many times white spots can occur in children but does not require any treatment except moisturizing lotion application or simple coconut oil application. they will persist for few weeks and then will go away if the problem continues beyond two weveks and is increasing in size and intensity then you have to meet the doctor for evaluation. some times itc can be due to nutritional deficiency, skin sensitivity, allergy, fungal infection (sometimes self limiting) also for which your doctor will prescribe specific cream.

A. Hello, Treatment involves daily lubrication with a good moisturizer such as Aquaphor, especially whenever the skin gets wet. Sometimes mild topical steroid creams help (1% hydrocortisone). Even with no treatment at all, the spots will disappear on their own — although it may take months to years
