A. Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is a common condition and one of the main causes of recurring indigestion. It's caused by acid reflux, which occurs when the oesophageal sphincter fails to prevent stomach acid from moving back up into your oesophagus.Kids and teens might still get indigestion once in a while, even if they eat carefully. If it goes away quickly or isn't very painful, it's probably nothing to worry about. But call the doctor if your child has indigestion along with: vomiting (throwing up), especially if there's blood in the vomit.Eat smaller meals throughout the day.Avoid late-night snacks.Avoid chocolate and fatty or fried foods.Avoid peppermint- or spearmint-flavoured foods.Avoid drinks with caffeine or carbonation.Limit foods that are spicy or high in acid. ...Eat protein-rich, low-fat foods.
