#AskTheExpert my son had a burn on his buttock area which iz 1st degree burn... can mupirocin ointment be applied on it?

A. hi parent apply silverex ointment it would be better if you consult your doctor for proper examination and medication maintain hydration and keep a track on urine output give lots of oral Fluids

A. Yes you can use, Mupirocin is an antibiotic that prevents bacteria from growing on your skin. Mupirocin topical (for use on the skin) is used to treat skin infections such as impetigo (IM-pe-TYE-go) or a "Staph" infection of the skin. Mupirocin topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
