Q.

#AskTheExpert my kid is having swelling near scrotum on left side(inguinal region). according to ultrasound it is Left inguinal lymphnode. doctor said the swelling is like a balloon. so it can't be lymphnode. it is hernia. what to do? is hernia common in kids of age 5+? attached is the photo of the swelling for reference. thanks

A. Your child will need surgery to fix an inguinal hernia. The surgery usually takes less than an hour and is typically an outpatient procedure. This means your child can go home the same day as the procedure.
